New addition to the target price estimating team.

We would like to welcome Rob Paine who took up yesterday his new role of target price estimator based at Newlands.

Sign making facility at Hinton.

Just a reminder to everyone that we now have the facility to make temporary signs at Hinton. Bill Cosnett and the team have the resouces to make new and recycle used temporary signs.

Worcestershire Staff Update.

During the past few weeks we have made two new additions to the team. Sid Roberts has joined us to assist with the additional three million pounds footways project.

Rob Paine will be taking on the position of "target price estimator" in the South.

We wish them both every success in their new posts.

Worcestershire Highways Safety Briefings.

Thanks to everyone for their contribution to our "best yet" safety briefings. In particular thanks go to Andy Donald and Steve Jones for their presentations.

All the subjects raised will be dealt with, in particular the ever present cable strike issue. We will develop a strategy to further drive down the strike rate in 2010 using the Workers Forums.

Worcestershire Highways Pothole Busters.

We knew that at the end of the cold spell we would have a problem across the County with potholes. At the beginning of January we made plans to have additional resources ready to tackle the pothole problem and hit the ground running as soon as the weather improved.

Last week the teams in Worcestershire repaired over 600 potholes accross the County, a great effort.

Worcestershire Winter Maintenance.

As we hopefully come to the end of this long cold spell we will be putting into action our plans to deal with the aftermath including dealing with potholes, flooding and surplus grit on the highway.

The works we have carried out has attracted a lot of press and TV coverage all of which has been very favourable and is a reflection of the excellent service delivered by the entire integrated team.

During the snow we have also seen some additions to the workforce.

Worcestershire Highways Employee Merit Award.

The joint winners of the "employee merit award" voted for at the December staff briefings were Des Dalloway and Steve Winters and they received their award just before the Christmas shutdown.
